Bill Holmes is a tax lawyer and long term resident of the UEL/UNA areas. Bill lives in the Hampton Place local area.
Each candidate was asked four questions about their connections to, and engagements within, the UNA. I provide the questions and candidates answers below. Rather than asking them about their political platform (we will hear a lot about that throughout the election) I asked them to reflect on the more personal aspects of their lives at UBC in the UNA community.
Describe how you are involved in the life of the UNA community.
UNA Board member and Chair of Finance & Audit Committee. Leading the attempt to get the province to tax the community fairly. Numerous connections with residents.
What brought you to live in the UNA community?
We were renting in the UEL and wanted to remain in the area.
Where in Canada, or the world, did you grow up? What about living in the UNA reminds you of your childhood home?
Vancouver, but have also lived in Toronto and Ottawa
How would you describe your normal daily routine?
Non-routine. Many activities: continued learning; UNA activities; reading; road bike riding ... . Until recently, my mornings were spent writing a 1500-page tax book.
