Mary Gan is a recent UBC grad (BSc) and current AMS (UBC Student Society) VP-Finance. Mary is is recent resident of the UNA. Mary lives in the Wesbrook Place local area.
Each candidate was asked four questions about their connections to, and engagements within, the UNA. I provide the questions and candidates answers below. Rather than asking them about their political platform (we will hear a lot about that throughout the election) I asked them to reflect on the more personal aspects of their lives at UBC in the UNA community.
Describe how you are involved in the life of the UNA community.
My family and I enjoy taking walks through the community gardens and enjoying the programs that the UNA offers! I haven't been involved in UNA governance before- but am excited at the opportunity to do so through the 2021 Elections.
What brought you to live in the UNA community?
Attending UBC Vancouver brought me to live in the UNA- instead of living in residence, I opted to live in Wesbrook Place. Wesbrook Place is an amazing place to live and it's only growing bigger and better- I've been able to see more facilities, shops, and amenities pop up over the years! It's so convenient being able to grab a drink, hop on a bus to campus, or get groceries within a short walk.
Where in Canada, or the world, did you grow up? What about living in the UNA reminds you of your childhood home?
I lived in Toronto for 4 years before I moved to Vancouver for UBC, and lived in various cities in the United States before.
